Dog Tired Pet Sitters
Pet SitterErica hails from the rural town of Kingston, NY. Located near the foothills of the majestic Catskill mountains, Kingston is known for its beautiful landscapes and splendid apple harvests. She attended The State University of New York at New Paltz as a pre-vet major, but ended up graduating with a Bachelor of the Arts in Literature, a Master of Arts in Literature and a Master of Arts in Teaching English 7-12. In 2012, the snow finally won and she relocated to Charleston where she began working for Fort Dorchester High School. During the days, Erica is a mild mannered English teacher. In the evenings, she is a dedicated pet sitter and wedding nanny. She currently lives in West Ashley, with her lovable, one-eyed dog Ellis and her eighteen pound, diabetic cat, Neo. Both fur-children were rescues and have been preceded by a long line of other adopted fur-children. Her hobbies center around watching the Baltimore Ravens and USA Rugby, playing at the James Island Dog Park with her pup, investigating Charleston’s historic places, reading good books, and going on the occasional treasure hunt at local flea markets.
Pet SitterAlexa has been with Dog Tired since 2015. She was born and raised in Atlanta, Ga. She grew up with dogs all of her life (mostly miniature dachshunds), Tiny, Solo, WIliam and Eddie (who, by the way were two of the first dogs that Gray ever took care of professionally at Dog Tired).
She moved to Charleston to go to the College of Charleston where she graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology. That was when she got the first dog of her very own, a Jack Russell Terrier named Cooper. She and her roommates always had at least 1 fur baby in their home. She has always had a love for cats, and has always had one or two running around. She attended graduate school at University of South Carolina where she received her Master’s in Social Work. She then moved out to Colorado with her husband, his dog Folly, and Cooper.
While in Colorado, Cooper was diagnosed with diabetes and a heart murmur. He was treated with 2 insulin shots a day for several years, until he passed away at the age of 15.
In Colorado, she worked at a residential treatment center for children as a therapist and LISW Alexa switched from working with troubled children to Hospice as a Social Worker. She has been in people’s homes taking care of patients with terminal illnesses, counseling on end of life issues, and assisting with esources the families may need. Her hospice work transferred once to her love of her pets, while she sat with and kept her husband’s dog comfortable when he passed away at their home. She decided to take a break from social work and use her passion for being a caregiver to animals in pet sitting. She can’t wait to pet sit for you!
Pet SitterAlicia joined Dog Tired in the fall of 2016. She enjoys spending time with her husband and their dalmatian/pointer puppy Skye, along with working out, quilting, reading, eating ice cream, and going to the Johns Island Farmers Market. Before that, she attended Northwest Nazarene University where she achieved a Bachelor of Arts in Education and a Bachelor of Science in Biology while throwing shot put, hammer, and discus for the track and field team. Alicia grew up in the small town of Bonners Ferry, Idaho. She raised and showed steers and lambs in 4-H, and also enjoyed horseback riding and studying veterinary science. She began to pet sit when she was 16 years old for neighbors and friends and continued to do so through college and up until she moved to the Charleston area. She is excited to be a part of the Dog Tired team and can’t wait to pet sit for you!
